Welcome to the German Visa Application Centre in Sri Lanka.

This site provides information on the procedure applicable to all residents in Sri Lanka and the Maldives who wish to apply for a Schengen Visa (short term visa - up to three months) to Germany, Austria, Estonia, Hungary, and/or Latvia.

Diplomats and immediate family members of German Nationals, EU, and EEA citizens may call the German Embassy directly in order to schedule an appointment.

Applicants for long stay (more than three months) and resident permit, such as adoption, au pair, family reunion, marriage, student, scientists, and other employment visa, may apply directly at the Embassy without prior appointment from Mondays -Thursdays 8.00 am to 10.00 am.

With immediate effect Germany does no longer require frequent travellers to come in person for an interview to the Embassy. Applicants are considered frequent travellers if they 1. have had and lawfully used at least two category C Schengen visa within the last 24 months prior to the application 2. have had and lawfully used a multi-entry Schengen visa with a period of validity between one and five years within the last 24 months prior to the application

The VAC shall remain open Mondays to Fridays, except on Embassy Holidays

VFS shall accept applications for the following visa categories for Germany VAC in Colombo: -
