The German Embassy in Sri Lanka advises applicants in the process of applying for a Schengen Visa (Short Term Including Tourism & Visit of Family and Friends/ Business & Transit) to submit their visa applications to the German Embassy in Colombo only with a prior appointment arranged at the German Visa Application Centre, from Monday to Thursday 8.00 am to 2.30 pm. and Friday from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm

Diplomats and immediate family members of German Nationals, EU, and EEA citizens as well as applicants for long stay and employment visas, such as adoption, au pair, family reunion, marriage, student, scientists, and work visa, may apply directly at the Embassy without prior appointment from Mondays -Thursday’s 8.00 am to 10.00 pm.

Processed Sri Lankan and Maldivian passports for applications submitted with prior appointment will be returned after a minimum of three to five working days. (Saturdays and Sundays not included). Please note that passports of several other nationalities have a processing time of twelve (12) days.

Appointment scheduling Charge of SLR. 500/- +Taxes will be charged per appointment. This is independent of the applicable Visa Fees.

Applicants can have their documents checked for a fee of SLR 700 +Taxes. This is an optional service offered to all applicants.

The Service Charge is payable in cash at the German Visa Application Center, at time of collecting the appointment receipt.

Please Note: Applicants should come over before three working days* prior to the appointment given from VFS in order to get a new appointment without paying the fees.

* Three Working days are counted excluding the appointment date.
